Nick Gulig has won the 2024 Colorado Prize for Poetry for his new book The Other Altar, to be published by Colorado State Press.

Nick's documentary on his trip around Lake Superior has turned into a documentary film series that tracks his life as a poet and as Wisconsin Poet Laureate on the one hand, and Lorine Niedecker and Lake Superior, on the other. The film is scheduled for release in April 2025 for national poetry month.

Nick's home institution. the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater, is starting a print journal to be published once a year: Either/Or. It will provide students a series of courses to receive experience in the areas of publishing and editing.
